TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

Tepesch: Allowed 1 R on 8 H with 7 K and 0 BB over 5.1 IP in 7/09-1 W vs. LEX (6-1 Hickory)

Taillon: Allowed 7 R on 6 H with 2 K and 2 BB over 2.1 IP in 7/09-1 Loss @ HAG (9-5 Suns)

POWER REPLAY: West Virginia lost 6-2 to Hickory Thursday night. The Power took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on one hit and two errors, but the Crawdads scored four runs in the top of the second and added a pair of home runs in the top of the fourth. Zack Von Rosenberg took the loss, while Cody Buckel notched the win.

SEVEN DOWN: West Virginia has lost a season-high seven straight games. During this stretch, the team has been outscored 50-18 and has lost by at least two runs in each game.

HERE I GO AGAIN ON TAILLON:Jameson Taillon makes his 14th start of the season tonight and his second against Hickory at Appalachian Power Park. Taillon hold a 0-0 mark at home with a 2.35 earned run average (six starts), and is 2-2 on the road with a 4.71 ERA (seven starts). The Pirates first round draft choice in 2010 pitched five innings against the Crawdads on May 29, allowing one run on two hits in a 4-3 Power loss. Hickory scored three times late that night for the win.

LOPEZ TO DL: The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed Porfirio Lopez on the Power disabled list, retroactive to July 13, and added Rinku Singh from the State College roster. Lopez is 1-3 with a 4.18 ERA for the Power this season, and went 1-1 with a 5.49 earned run average for Bradenton. Singh was signed by Pittsburgh in 2008 after winning the Indian reality show "The Million Dollar Arm." This season, the southpaw was 0-2 with a 2.16 ERA with the Spikes.

TRIPLE THREAT: Andy Vasquez's triple on Sunday gives him eight for the season, tops in the SAL so far. Vasquez'stotal has matched Alcides Escobar, Hernan Iribarren, and Lee Haydel for the second-most three base hits in a season. Quincy Latimore holds the single season record with 10 during the 2009 campaign.

ROLLIN STOPS: Justin Howard was held hitless Wednesday and saw his nine-game hitting streak snapped.The first baseman hit .323 during his streak, matching Matt Curry and Drew Maggi for the longest hitting streak by any Power player this season.

HICKORY HISTORY: Tonight is the final meeting this season between Power and Crawdads. Hickory won the 2010 season set 4-3, and the 2011 series was secured in their favor with last night's win over the Power. West Virginia still leads the all-time series 44-32, and holds a 26-13 advantage at Appalachian Power Park.

HOME RUN HISTORY: Rogelio Noris has 23 career home runs for West Virginia over a season and a half in a Power jersey. Noris has now surpassed Kenny Holmberg's two-year total of 22 for second most in club history. Stephen Chapman hit 24 home runs in a Power uniform in 2007, the most in any season for West Virginia, and also the most in any player's Power career.

POWER POINTS: The Charleston River Dogs will make their first appearance at Appalachian Power Park since 2009 when their weekend series starts tomorrow... West Virginia is the only club in the SAL who has not hit a grand slam this season... Drew Maggi's 17 home game on-base streak was snapped Wednesday. The streak dated back to May 21...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh opens a three game series in Houston tonight... Indianapolis beat Columbus 7-4... Altoona lost 6-3 at Erie... Bradenton beat Dunedin 6-2... State College fell 6-4 at Staten Island.
