
Sanchez, Wilson Lead Ponies to Road Sweep of Cats

Manchester, NH - The Rumble Ponies (2-0) came into Manchester on a four-game skid and left with a sweep of the Fisher Cats (0-2), doubling up New Hampshire 4-2 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Ali Sanchez finished 3-4 with two RBI and Tommy Wilson earned his first win of the year in a Rumble Ponies uniform.
The Ponies got on the board with a run in the first, two in the third, and one in the fith. Sanchez hit an RBI single in the first to drive home Andres Gimenez and an RBI double in the fifth to bring home Braxton Lee. Sanchez also extended his hitting streak to ten games. The Ponies had five doubles on the game, three times to lead off an inning. The Ponies scored their other two runs in the third on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly from Patrick Mazeika.
Tommy Wilson (1-3) allowed only two runs (one earned) over six to get the win. Joe Zanghi pitched two scoreless frames in relief and Joseph Shaw came in with two on and one out in the ninth to close out the game. It was Shaw's first save of the year.
It's the Ponies first sweep of a team since May 28-30 against the Flying Squirels in Richmond. They are now 6-6 against the Fisher Cats on the season.
The Rumble Ponies return home to open up a three-game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Friday evening. First pitch is at 7:05 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show gets underway at 6:50PM.
POSTGAME NOTES: The Ponies are now 23-0 when leading after eight innings...Andres Gimenez scored two runs and Quinn Brodey had two hits...Binghamton is now an Eastern League best 26-12 on the road this year.
