San Antonio Missions News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Missions pitcher Adrian Martinez has been named the Double-A Central Pitcher of the Month for July, announced by the league today. This is the second award for Martinez this season after previously being awarded Pitcher of the Week (June 28 - July 4). This marks his second career award and first monthly honor.
For the month of July, Martinez went 4-0 with a 0.32 ERA in five starts. He allowed 16 hits across 28.1 innings pitched while allowing one earned run. Martinez struck out 25 batters and opponents batted .168 against him.
The highlight of the month for Martinez was his start against Corpus Christi on July 2nd. He tossed six no-hit innings while striking out nine batters. During that outing, he retired 17 consecutive batters.
Martinez made Missions history with his performance last month. His 0.32 ERA is tied with Aaron Wilkerson (2019) for the lowest monthly ERA by a Missions pitcher since 2005 (minimum of 25.0 IP). His four wins during July are tied for the second most in a month for a Missions pitcher since 2005.
On the year, Martinez is 6-3 with a 2.20 ERA in 15 games and 11 starts with the Missions. He has 70 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched and holds a 1.09 WHIP.
Martinez and the Missions return to action on Wednesday, August 4th at home against the Corpus Christi Hooks.
The San Antonio Missions are the Double-A affiliate for the San Diego Padres. This is the 115th professional season for the San Antonio Missions. Tickets are on sale now at the Wolff Stadium Box Office or online at samissions.com. Season seat memberships are available now by calling 210-675-PARK (7275).
