Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs needed just one at-bat to finish their suspended game on Wednesday, beating Sioux Falls 4-3. Lincoln improves to 22-14 on the season.

The game, which was suspended on Tuesday when heavy rains came to Haymarket Park, resumed with Albenis Machado on first base and two out in the bottom of the tenth. Phil Hawke was the first man to bat, and with Machado running on a 1-2 pitch, Hawke lined an Andrew Pluta (1-2) pitch into the left-field corner. Machado came all the way around from first to score the winning run.

Sioux Falls had taken a 2-0 lead Tuesday in the third inning on a home run by Reggie Abercrombie, and added a run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Beau Torbert. Lincoln, however, tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a three-run homer by Gavin Dickey. The Saltdogs' current pitcher when the game was suspended was Adam Daniels (4-0), who struck out five of the six batters he faced over two innings.

Argelis Nunez and Roberto Alvarez each had two-hit games for the Saltdogs. Dickey ended the game 1-for-4 with the three-run home run. Lincoln starter Jim Paduch was solid, allowing just two runs on six hits over six innings and striking out seven.

The two teams will play the second game of the series, Wednesday's regularly-scheduled game, at 7:05 this evening-or about 50 minutes after the suspended game was completed.
