Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush is pleased to announce the partnership with local news affiliate KEVN Black Hills Fox for the weekly television show "Face-Off with the Rapid City Rush" to air on Thursday nights at 10 p.m.
"It is very exciting to partner with KEVN Black Hills Fox on the first ever Rush television show, where we have the opportunity to let our fans see the ins-and-outs of professional hockey from a behind the scenes look," said Rush Head coach and GM Joe Ferras. "There is so much that goes into running a first class organization like the Rush, and to give our loyal fans and the Rapid City community some insight, as well as an opportunity to learn about this great game at the same time, is a win-win scenario for everybody".
The show features an in-depth look at the Rush organization from a hockey operations perspective, with behind the scenes footage of the game day experience, as well as discussion about the team's transition into the ECHL. Jamie Zepp, Sports Director for KEVN Black Hills Fox, and Megan Thompson, Weekend Sports Anchor for KEVN Black Hills Fox also feature interviews with Rush coaching staff and players, walk fans through "Hockey 101" segments featuring the Rush players, and ask Coach Ferras viewer-submitted questions in the "Shots from the Point" segment.
"The Rush came to us with this exciting idea to have a television show about Rush hockey to give the fans a more in-depth look at the inner workings of the Rush organization," said KEVN Sports Director Jamie Zepp. "KEVN Black Hills Fox jumped at the opportunity to share that kind of excellence and that kind of inside look with our viewers. So far it has been an eye opening experience, but completely satisfying and it's great to know that this is a product that both of our teams will be proud of by season's end."
"This has been an incredible experience. It's been a blast working with everyone in the organization and getting to know the players," said KEVN Black Hills Fox Weekend Sports Anchor Megan Thompson. "For me personally, this is very exciting because it's another opportunity to further personalize the Rush for a community that loves their team."
On this week's edition of "Face-Off with the Rapid City Rush", Megan visits with returning Rush goaltender Danny Battochio and goes through Hockey 101, Jamie and Coach talk about league transition and his "Shots from the Point" segment of fan-submitted questions for Coach Ferras. Should you wish to submit your question for Coach Ferras, go to blackhillsfox.com and visit the "Face-Off" tab.
Zepp concluded: "At Black Hills Fox, we've had a great opportunity to work with this team and see the professionalism of these young men. We can't wait to offer this show and this new perspective to Rush fans as they watch their team make their run at their first ECHL title."
