Idaho's Bast Named CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Idaho Steelheads forward Jason Bast is the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for October.

The 25-year-old scored five goals, added two assists and was a +7 in six games during October, helping the Steelheads to a 5-1-0 record during the month. Bast scored at least one point in five of his six games in October, highlighted by a three-point game (2g-1a) and a +3 in a 3-0 win against Stockton on Oct. 29. He scored the game-winning goal in three of Idaho's five wins during the month.

A native of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Bast leads the Steelheads with seven goals and nine points in seven games this season. His seven goals lead all ECHL rookies, are are tied for the overall league lead, while his nine points are tied for third among first-year players and tied for fourth overall.

Bast has 25 points (13g-12a) in 21 career ECHL games with Idaho and Victoria. He played four seasons of college hockey with St. Francis Xavier University, tallying 110 points (37g-73a) in 111 career games, and also recorded 254 points (114g-140a) in 331 career games with Moose Jaw of the Western Hockey League.
