Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - On Friday night, Rapid City Rush (35-21-4) squeaked by the Tulsa Oilers (31-25-3) at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. A potential game-tying goal was swept home by the Oilers as time expired, but the tally was immediately waved off, preserving the 2-1 win for the Rush. Danny Battochio turned away a season-high 37 shots for his league -leading 26th win of the year while Konrad Reeder accounted for both Rush goals.

Reeder got the Rush on the board first, collecting his 15th goal of the season midway through the first period. Ryan Menei entered the zone on a 2-on-1, sending a backdoor saucer pass to Reeder who tapped it over the left pad of Trevor Cann. John Mori evened the score for the Oilers at the 12:43 mark, extending his goal streak to four games. Gary Steffes was denied on a shot from the side of the net, but the rebound came loose to Mori who buried the powerplay chance.

Five minutes into the second period, Reeder struck for the second time, and again gave the Rush the lead. While on the powerplay, defenseman Riley Weselowski fired a shot that was deflected home from the side of the net by Reeder for the 2-1 lead and eventual game-winner.

With three and a half seconds remaining and the goaltender pulled for the extra attacker, the Oilers won a pivotal faceoff in the offensive end. Derek Eastman fired a shot on net that was stopped, but the rebound came to the low slot and was swept home as time expired, but was immediately waived off, maintaining the 2-1 Rush win.

The Rush now take on the Fort Wayne Komets tomorrow at 7:05PM at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Tickets are still available.
