With the Bucks 4-2 win over Missouri last night and Rio Grande Valley's 5-4 loss to Arizona Laredo sits just two points behind the Killer Bees for the final playoff spot in the Berry Conference with seven games remaining. The Killer Bees host Missouri tonight.
The Bucks and Sundogs have had some classic games this season as seven of the first 10 meetings between the two teams have been decided by one goal, with the Bucks posting a 2-4-1 record in those games. Arizona has won two 2-1 games in Laredo this season (December 10th, March 8th).
Laredo is 4-1 in their last five home games outscoring their opponents a combined 20-14 in that stretch.
After snapping a 12-game road winless streak Tuesday in Laredo the Sundogs have won three straight away from home and four straight overall to move into a tie for sixth place in the conference. Arizona sits just one point behind Odessa for fifth place and will close out their five-game road trip Tuesday against the Jackalopes.
The Bucks will start a season-high four-game road trip Wednesday (Mar. 16th) in Colorado.
GRENVILLE HALL OF FAME NIGHT SATURDAY
The Bucks will induct two-time CHL All-Star Chris Grenville as the first member of the Bucks Hall of Fame on March 12th when the Bucks host Arizona at Laredo Energy Arena. The first 1,000 fans to enter the LEA will receive a FREE Chris Grenville Hall of Fame replica plaque.
In October Grenville received the most votes out of all of the Bucks' Legends who were eligible to make the Hall of Fame. The voting was comprised of the Bucks fan vote on Legends Night and Bucks front office staff.
Grenville, with his family on hand, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a special ceremony during the game that night.
Grenville is one of the greatest players in Laredo Bucks history. Grenville, an original Buck, played three seasons in Laredo from 2002-2004 and 2005-06 and helped lead the franchise to two CHL President's Cup Championships.
BUCKS TO HONOR JAIME J. ZAPATA SATURDAY
The Bucks, along with Crime Stoppers, announced that part of the proceeds from ticket sales to Saturday's (Mar. 12th) game against Arizona will be donated to the Jaime J. Zapata ICE agent scholarship fund.
Special Agent Zapata was killed recently in the line of duty as an agent for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) working in the agency's Mexico City office. He was 32.
The Bucks and Crime Stoppers will honor agent Zapata during Saturday's game with a video tribute on the jumbo tron.
Tickets are on sale now by calling Crime Stoppers' Lisa Peterson at 956-724-1876 or 718-BUCK (2825).
