Mississippi RiverKings News Release
MOLINE, IL --- Brennan Sarazin and Matt Summers each scored a pair of goals for the Mississippi RiverKings in posting a 4-2 road victory over the Quad City Mallards in Moline, Illinois. Sarazin's second goal of the night became the game-winner as the RiverKings won its tenth road game of the season and improved to 27-28-5 for 59 points in the Central Hockey League Barry Conference standings.
Quad City took the early lead in the first period on a goal from Joel Gasper, his eighth of the season, assisted by Jason Kostadine and Bob Preece at 10:54. Gasper was left alone in the slot and jammed in a rebound of Kostadine's initial shot on net.
Mississippi tied the game in the second period on goals from Matt Summers and Brennan Sarazin. Summers scored on the power play at 9:05 on assists from Chris Richards and Matt Boyd. That was followed by Sarazin finding a hole between the pads of Quad City goaltender David Brown and filled it at 15:07 to tie the game. R.G. Flath and Derek Landmesser assisted on Sarazin's ninth goal of the season.
Quad City had taken a 2-0 lead in the second period on an unassisted goal from Zac Pearson at 1:18, his 23rd of the year.
The RiverKings took the lead on Sarazin's second goal of the night at 4:23 of the final period, assisted by Dane Marsall and Flath. Matt Summers' second power play goal of the evening sealed the win on a feed from Boyd at 10:19 for the final score. Summers netted his team-leading 27th goal and 15th power play goal on the play.
Mississippi was 2-for-4 on the power play and stopped all five Quad City chances. RiverKings' goaltender Alexander Pechurskiy made 37 saves in posting the victory (15-12-2), while David Brown (17-15-1) took the loss for Quad City, stopping 29 shots, but allowing four goals.
Next up for the RiverKings is a two-game series with the Texas Brahmas Friday and Saturday night, March 18th and 19th at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. The weekend will be wrapped up with a Sunday late afternoon contest at Missouri.
