Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, announced today that defenseman Max Nicastro has been re-assigned by the AHL's Toronto Marlies to the Rush. Additionally, Taylor Doherty's ECHL rights have been traded to the Orlando Solar Bears.
Nicastro, 26, comes to the Rush via re-assignment in the midst of his fourth season of professional hockey, and second with the Orlando Solar Bears. The 6'2", 190-pound blue-liner skated in 50 contests in "the Sunshine State", amassing 14 points, split between 7 goals and assists each. Over the course of his career, the Thousand Oaks, California native has played in 149 ECHL games with the Toledo Walleye (67 GP, 2 G-19 Ast-21 Pts) and the Solar Bears (82 GP, 15 G-12 Ast-27 Pts), while also skating with the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins as a rookie for 25 games. Prior to playing professionally, Nicastro played three seasons of college hockey with Boston University in the NCAA where he was named to the 2010 Hockey East All-Rookie Team, and two seasons with the USHL's Chicago Steel where he was named as an USHL All-Star in the 2008-09 campaign. He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2008 NHL Draft (3rd Rd-#91).
