March 10, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, today announced that forwards Kevin Goumas and Kevin Sundher have been loaned to the Royals from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League. In separate transactions also undertaken today, the Royals: (i) activated goaltender Adam Morrison from the 21-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) placed goaltender Connor Knapp on the 21-Day Injured Reserve; and (iii) placed forward Matt Hatch on the ECHL Reserve List.
This is the second stint in Reading this season for Goumas, a second year pro from Merrick, New York. He was loaned to the Royals prior to the start of the season and played two games for the team, recording two points (1g-1a) which included scoring the game winning goal in Reading's 6-0 win in South Carolina on October 18. Goumas was recalled to Lehigh Valley after that game and has been with the Phantoms since that time. In fifty-six games with Leigh Valley, he has recorded thirteen points (6g-7a) and sixteen penalty minutes.
Sundher, a fourth year pro from Surrey, British Columbia, was signed to an ECHL contract prior to the start of the season by Reading and promptly rang off points in four straight games for the Royals (3g-4a), which included scoring a hattrick for the team in his first game as a Royal (a 5-1 win for Reading over the Elmira Jackals on October 23, 2015), before being loaned to the Phantoms where he recorded five points in ten games (3g-2a) before sustaining an injury. Sundher has been recently signed by the Flyers to an AHL contract.
Morrison, a fourth year pro from White Rock, British Columbia, last played for the Royals on December 31, 2015, when he made 39 stops in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Adirondack Thunder to extend his unbeaten streak with the team to five (2-0-2-1). Since that time, he has spent two stints on the injured reserve. In ten games with Reading this season, he has compiled a record of 3-3-2-2 with a 2.27 goals against average and a .929 save percentage with three shutouts. Prior to joining the Royals, Morrison played four games for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and one for the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL. Overall, he is 5-5-2-2 (2.69 / .915) in fifteen total appearances in the league.
The Royals return to action tomorrow (Friday, March 11 @ 7:00 pm) when the team travels to Manchester, New Hampshire, to face the top team in the East Division, the Manchester Monarchs. Friday night's matchup can be heard live on CBS SportsRadio 1240 AM and 98.5 FM in Reading, Pennsylvania, starting with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Highmark Blue Shield at 6:30 pm Eastern Time. As with all Royals' road games this season, Friday's game will also be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations.
