Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans have acquired defenseman Matt Register from the Atlanta Gladiators in exchange for forward Chris Auger. Auger was the player to be named later in the deal with the Brampton Beast that sent Jonathan Parker and the rights to Justin Baker to Brampton.

Register is in his second stint with the Allen Americans. He played in 22 games with Allen as a rookie in the 2011-2012 season while the Americans were in the Central Hockey League, tallying a goal and three assists. Register, a teammate of Tristan King last season, had 50 points with Ontario scoring 14 goals and 36 assists and was a plus 17.

"To be able to pickup a defenseman of his caliber at this time of the year is a big bonus," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "He was really good against us in the playoffs last year. Matt brings us a ton of skill and experience."

In 40 games with the Atlanta Gladiators this year, Register had 6 goals and 21 assists for 27 points. The native of Calgary, Alberta, is in his fifth season as a pro. Register will join the Americans in time for this weekend's games against the Wichita Thunder.

The Americans are back home Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at Allen Event Center. Tickets are on sale NOW at www.allenamericans.com or call (972) 912-1000.
