Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - Just before Monday's Central Hockey League trade deadline, the Rapid City Rush struck a deal with the Allen Americans that will bring defenseman Dominic D'Amour to the Black Hills in exchange for future considerations. D'Amour was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in round 3, number 88 overall, of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

A native of Lasalle, Quebec, D'Amour brings 112 games of American Hockey League experience where he totaled 19 points on 5 goals and 14 assists to go along with 154 penalty minutes.

"I'm really excited to be a part of the Rapid City Rush," said D'Amour. "From what I've heard, Rapid City is the greatest place to play, and with the way the team has performed lately, it looks like there's a good chance for a long playoff run. Hopefully I can add some experience, find a good spot and be able to contribute on both ends of the ice."

The 6-3, 214 pound D'Amour is currently in his 8th professional season, beginning the year with 17 points (1G, 16A) in 28 games for the Americans. In all, the blueliner has suited up in 113 CHL games in stints with Wichita, Missouri, Rio Grande Valley and Allen.

"We're excited to add Dominic, a player that competes hard on a nightly basis," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. "He skates well and has a heavy shot from the point that should help with our power play, while his size will be an intimidating force for opposing offenses. We have been looking to upgrade on the back end and we're eager to have him for our playoff push."
