Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN.--- On the Central Hockey League trade deadline day on Monday, the Evansville IceMen completed a straight one-for-one deal with Turner Conference rival Dayton in an exchange of defensemen between the two teams.
On this date, the IceMen announced the acquisition of defenseman CHAD LANGLAIS from the Dayton Gems in exchange for defenseman NICK SCHNEIDER. The transaction is consummated immediately with both players expected to report to their new teams promptly.
LANGLAIS, (LANG-lace), 25, is in his first pro season, having arrived on the CHL scene with the Gems at the inception of the current 2011-12 campaign. The American-bred from Spokane, Washington saw action in all 43-Dayton games thus far this season, engineering 12-points on 1-goal, 11-assists with 22-PIM.His 1-goal was a PPG, adding 3-PPA as well, along with 63-SOG. In 8-games against Evansville, the 5-9, 171lb left-hand shooting rearguard authored 3-assists, 13-SOG and +2 rating.
Prior to his advent to the professional ranks, Langlais enjoyed a record-setting four-year career at perennial national powerhouse program, the U. of Michigan. He achieved an impressive streak of playing every single game in each of his four letter winning seasons while in Ann Arbor. Breaking a school record by performing his craft in 173-consecutive games for the Wolverines, Langlais earned the distinction of playing in the most total games by any Michigan player in the University's rich 89-year hockey history.
His senior season culminated with his second NCAA Frozen Four appearance, helping his team advance to the Division I championship game.
As for the departing Schneider, the third year pro was in his second Evansville campaign, collecting 13-points in 39-games on 3-goals, 10-assists with 2-FG and 30-SOG and 22-PIM.
To add another interesting dimension to this deal is the fact that the IceMen and the Gems will be locking antlers later this week when the two teams clash at the Ford Center this Friday night at 7:15 pm on Guns & Hoses Night and Report Card Night.
