Dayton Gems News Release

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems professional hockey team, proud members of the "AA" Central Hockey League, announced that they have acquired defenseman Nick Schneider from the Evansville IceMen in exchange for defenseman Chad Langlais.

Schneider, a 27 year old native of Maplewood, Minnesota, joins the Gems in a trade-deadline acquisition from the Evansville IceMen. In his second season with the IceMen, Schneider has earned 12 points from the blueline.

Prior to skating in Evansville, Schneider spent time as a member of the IHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks and AAHL's Battle Creek Revolution during the 2009-2010 season. He played collegiate hockey for the University of Connecticut for four letter winning seasons and spent two years of junior with the Bismarck Bobcats in the North American Hockey League before turning professional.

Langlais leaves for Evansville after appearing in 38 games this season for the Gems, picking up one goal and nine assists.

Dayton returns to action on Tuesday night when they make their final visit to the Quad City Mallards this season at 8:15pm before engaging in a three-in-three weekend series starting on Thursday night at Hara Arena against Bloomington, traveling to Evansville on Friday and concluding back at Hara on Saturday night against Fort Wayne.
