The Charlotte Knights announced two roster moves ahead of the final game of a seven-game series against the Norfolk Tides from Norfolk, VA on Sunday, September 5. The Knights have won four of six games in the series.
INF Rubén Tejada was signed by the Chicago White Sox organization and assigned to the Charlotte Knights today.
Tejada, 31, has appeared in 663 games over parts of nine seasons in the majors with the New York Mets (2010-15 & 19), St. Louis Cardinals (2016), San Francisco Giants (2016) and Baltimore Orioles (2017). He owns a career MLB batting average of .250 with 530 hits, 110 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 158 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. Most recently, the Panama native appeared in 72 games with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Triple-A) this season and hit .231 (52-for-225) with 26 runs scored, five doubles, one triple, 15 RBIs and one stolen base. He was released by Philadelphia on August 25, 2021.
He was originally signed by the Mets as a free agent on July 11, 2006 as a 16-year-old. He made his major league debut with the Mets on April 7, 2010.
LHP Kodi Medeiros was activated off Charlotte's Injured List today. He was placed on the team's IL on August 29 (retroactive to August 27). In 24 games this season with the Knights, Medeiros is 0-1 with a 5.55 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched. He was acquired by the White Sox in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers on July 26, 2018. He was a non-roster invitee to White Sox Spring Training this season.
