RubberDucks Team up with Haven of Rest

(AKRON, OHIO) July 22, 2015 - For the first time, the Akron RubberDucks have teamed with Haven of Rest to donate leftover food following its games. To date, the RubberDucks have donated nearly 500 pounds of food to help out Haven of Rest. After each home game, the RubberDucks staff quickly packages up the leftover food making sure the food temperature remains at a safe level. Each morning following a home game a representative from the organization comes to pick up the leftover food from the game the night before.

"Haven of Rest Ministries is very grateful for the food donations from the Akron RubberDucks. Those donations of food will help provide meals for hundreds of men, women and children," said Haven of Rest Donor Relations Coordinator Mike Solosky "The majority of the food the Haven of Rest serves has been donated by many generous businesses, groups, organizations and individuals in our community and is truly a blessing to those we assist."

For the first three months of the season, the RubberDucks have donated a total of 493 pounds of food to Haven of Rest. A total of 198 pounds of leftover food was donated in April, 147 pounds was donated in May and 153 pounds of food was donated in June.

"We are thrilled to have an opportunity to give back and help out the community of Summit County. If we have left over food and are able to donate it, while helping those in need, it is a win-win for everyone," said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander.

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2015 season the 19th since moving to Canal Park and its first since becoming the RubberDucks.
