OMAHA - The Omaha Royals not only kept winning Sunday afternoon at Rosenblatt Stadium. They posted another dramatic victory, squeezing by the Iowa Cubs 3-2 in 12 innings on a beautiful afternoon that drew a crowd of 8,609 fans to the ballpark.

With one out and the bases full in the 12th, Chad Santos drilled a single up the middle to score Matt Diaz with the deciding run, as the Royals downed Iowa for a third consecutive game. Omaha (60-62) has won four straight, matching its longest home winning streak of the season. The Royals improved to 9-2 on the home stand and have won 15 of their last 18 games. The contest also marked the fifth time in their last eight contests that the Royals have won in their final at-bat.

The decisive run was unearned off Carmen Pignatiello (1-3), as Diaz had reached on a two-base throwing error by Cubs third baseman Mike Fontenot with one out. An intentional walk, followed by an unintended free pass, loaded the bases for Santos who delivered his third hit of the afternoon. Santos is 8-for-13 in the series and has driven in four runs.

The Royals led 2-1 heading into the ninth inning, but Santiago Ramirez blew his second save opportunity in his last three chances when Mark Johnson smacked a leadoff home run to right field. Johnson had cut Omaha's lead to 2-1 in the seventh, greeting lefty Shane Nance with an RBI single off the warning track in right to score Scott McClain.

McClain's run in the seventh was the only one charged to Royals starter Dennis Tankersley, who gave up just two hits in six-and-a-third innings, walking three and fanning four batters.

Justin Huisman (5-1) worked all three of the extra innings, surrendering just one hit and working around three walks to get the win.

The Royals had broken a scoreless tie in the fifth, scoring two runs off Sergio Mitre. With nobody out, Aaron Guiel lined an RBI single to right, scoring Luis Ugueto from second base. On the play, Adrian Brown wound up scoring when Calvin Murray made an errant throw trying to nail Brown at third base.

The Royals go for the sweep of the series and a 10-2 home stand Monday at 7:05 p.m.: LH Rich Hill (3-1, 4.53) vs. RH Ryan Jensen (1-7, 6.00). Air-time is 6:45 p.m. on Magic 1490 and at www.Oroyals.com.
