New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Game Keys: The Zephyrs and Isotopes split a doubleheader on Sunday in Albuquerque. New Orleans won its season best seventh consecutive road game in game one. The Z?s defeated the Isotopes 5-1. John Halama pitched five strong innings and earned his first win of the season. Marlin Byrd and Kevin Orie each drove in a pair of runs to lead the Z?s. Albuquerque starter Ariel Prieto pitched a complete game in the second contest taking a shutout into the final inning. Dee Brown drilled a solo homer with two outs in the seventh top score the Z?s lone run of the game. The Isotopes defeated the Z?s 6-1. New Orleans starter Brian Powell pitched a complete game in the loss. It was the first complete game for the Z?s since August of 2004.
Game Notes: The Zephyrs split the doubleheader on Sunday, the Z?s have played five twin bills and have split four. Matt Cepicky was injured in the first inning of game two and left the game with a injured right knee. He will be evaluated on Monday. The PCL?s league leading hitter Rick Short had two hits in four at bats on Sunday and walked three times. He is batting .400 for the season.
