Round Rock Express News Release

(Round Rock, TX) - The Round Rock Express had it lined up in the bottom of the ninth inning against division rival Oklahoma. Trailing 6-5, the E-Train with one out got back to back singles from Luke Scott and Mike Coolbaugh. Despite the fact that the runners executed a double steal which placed the winning run in scoring position, the Express came up empty with a 6-5 loss.

Round Rock broke out in front in the third inning on a two out double by C Chris Tremie and an RBI single from CF Charles Gipson for a 1-0 lead.

Oklahoma took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, but Round Rock came right back with a two-run Chris Tremie single to re-take the lead at 3-2.

But the hot Oklahoma bats came alive with a four run, four hit sixth inning, and a 6-2 lead.

The Express made it 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Carlos Rivera double, a one out single from Barry Wesson and a Tommy Whiteman sacrifice fly. And they closed the gap to 6-5 in the eighth inning on a Carlos Rivera RBI double scoring Mike Coolbaugh who singled to open the inning.

RedHawks closer Jose Veras came on to pitch the ninth inning, giving up two hits, allowing the double steal, but ultimately escaping with his seventeenth save.

The series finale takes place at the Dell Diamond at 7:05 PM on Monday with right-hander Roberto Giron making the start for the Express.
