Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals notched four powerplay markers to down the BC Division leading Kelowna Rockets 5-1 on Saturday night.

The Royals' Matthew Phillips paced the club with a goal and three assists on the powerplay. Phillips has now notched 12 points (6g-6a) in his past six games. Victoria's Tyler Soy, Alex Forsberg and Joe Hicketts all tallied on the man-advantage. The Royals' lone even-strength marker was registered by Regan Nagy in the opening stanza. The Rockets' goal was scored by Cole Linaker.

Victoria netminder Coleman Vollrath stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced in the win. Kelowna countered with Michael Herringer, who turned aside 22 of 27 shots on the night.

The Royals went 4/850.0% with the man-advantage. The Rockets meanwhile, who entered the contest with the WHL's second ranked powerplay, were held to a 0/30.0% mark.

Victoria will welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers this Tuesday, before they wrap up their four-game homestand with a contest against the Kootenay ICE on Saturday, December 5th. Saturday's game is Joe Hicketts Bobblehead Night. Puck drop for both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
