St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, MN - St. Cloud (38-14) got the bats going in the last three innings to come back and take a 9-5 game from Rochester (23-28) in game one of the doubleheader.
The Rox fell behind early, trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when St. Cloud got the offense rolling as Ethan Mann (Dallas Baptist) had a bases-clearing double to tie the game up at three.
Mann would come in to score on a sacrifice fly from Garrett Pennington (Wichita State) before O'Neill Burgos (Southern) launched a solo home run over the left-field fence. Burgos' second home run of the season made it 5-3 St. Cloud.
Ike Mezzenga (North Iowa Area CC) continued his scorching start to his season with the Rox, adding three hits for the second straight night. Mezzenga was a triple shy of the cycle, hitting a two-run home run to put the Rox up 8-3 in the seventh.
On the mound, Carson Keithley (Texas State) made his third start of the summer and went five solid innings. Keithley allowed just two runs on four hits to get the Rox into the late innings.
Derek Lilledahl (Minnesota State-Mankato) came in to close out the win in the ninth inning. Lilledahl struck out one Honkers batter and only allowed one baserunner to get the Rox their third straight win.
