
Rockers Sweep Road Doubleheader Against Chinooks

Mequon, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers took down the Lakeshore Chinooks in the second game of the doubleheader 6-5 Wednesday night at Kapco Park as Green Bay swept both games Wednesday in Lakeshore as part of a road doubleheader.
The Rockers now improve to 12-7 on the season and are now in sole possession of second place in the second half standings of the Great Lakes West Division. The Chinooks are now 10-9 on the season following Wednesday's doubleheader.
In the bottom of the first inning, Lakeshore took an early lead on an RBI single, leading 1-0 after the first inning of play.
Tommy Leonzi however responded with two scoreless innings in the second and third on the mound, keeping his team only down by one heading into the fourth inning.
The Chinooks took a 3-0 lead after four innings, scoring two runs in the frame courtesy of two RBIs and three hits in total as the Rockers trailed by three going into the fifth.
Green Bay scored their first runs of the game in the fifth inning, scoring a total of five runs highlighted by a three-RBI double from Tristin Garcia, giving the Rockers a 5-3 lead through five innings on the road.
After Kyle Stoddard pitched three scoreless innings ranging from the fifth to the seventh, Green Bay extended their lead by one in the top of the eighth, as Carson Yates delivered home an RBI single to make it 6-3 approaching the ninth.
The Chinooks scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying run on third with the winning run on second with just one out.
However, on two pitches, Bryce Crabb forced the Chinooks into a 4-6-3 double play to end the game and give the Rockers the sweep on the road.
The Rockers are back at home Thursday to take on the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. from Capital Credit Union Park.
The pregame concert performed by Pat McCurdy will start at 5:35 p.m. with this game featuring Tyler's Amazing Balancing Act. Thirsty Thursday will also take place at the ballpark with there being half price domestic taps through the fifth inning.
