Seventh Inning Comeback Leads Pit Spitters to Victory

Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters used a big four-run seventh to take a 6-5 lead, winning by that score over the Kenosha Kingfish on Wednesday.

The Kingfish struck first on a two-run home run by Drake Westcott in the first. They would add two more in the third to go up 4-0.

The Pit Spitters halved the lead in the bottom half, one run scoring on a wild pitch and the other on a sacrifice fly by Colin Summerhill.

Adam Christopher had mixed results in the start, giving up five runs on four hits and three walks. But he struck out a season-high seven batters, including three in the first.

Easton Johnson pitched three scoreless to get the game to the bottom of the seventh. The first five batters reached in the inning, including three straight RBI singles by Trey Truitt, Michael Tchavdarov and Glenn Miller. Two batters later, Camden Traficante gave the Pit Spitters the lead on a sacrifice fly.

Ryan Insco pitched a scoreless eighth and Anthony Ramirez a 1-2-3 ninth, ending the game with a strikeout. Ramirez earned his fourth save of the season, taking the team lead.

Top Performers

Michael Tchavdarov was 2-4 and Glenn Miller was 1-3 with RBIs in their season debuts.
