Huskies Split Four Game Set with Rox

July 27, 2022 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Duluth Huskies News Release

St. Cloud, MINN. - The Huskies were back in St. Cloud, looking to take three games out four against the Rox.

The game was originally scheduled for a 7:05 first pitch, but after a storm rolled through the area, the game was delayed until 8:37.

Devin Dodson was on the bump for the Huskies in his 10th appearance of the season. Duluth went up against Kaden Krowka who made his eighth appearance.

The Rox were able to get on the board in the first when Brice Matthews, who has been struggling of late, laced a double into right center field to bring in John Nett and put the Rox ahed one to nothing.

Rox starter Kaden Krowka was able to throw five shutout innings, but in the sixth Danny Glenos came into the game. He immediately walked the bases loaded, then Derek Lilledahl relieved him. Eddie Satisky was hit by a pitch, then Eddy Rosario grounded into a double play that brought in another run. At the end of five and a half, the Huskies were up 2-1.

Devin Dodson was great in his start today. His final line: 5.1IP, 5H, 1ER, 3BB, 5K. It felt like a vital game between two rival teams, and the current ace for the Huskies showed why he deserves that title.

Only two innings later, with no one on and one out, the hottest hitter on the Huskies Peyton Powell stepped up. He extended his hitting streak to ten games by lacing a double down the left field line. The very next batter, Eddie Satisky, picked up his second RBI of the game with a double into left-center field that scored Powell. Satisky only went one for three on the day, but he looked very good hitting as he was robbed of two hits by Rox fielders.

The Rox responded in the bottom half of the eighth. Dylan Hill came into the game and got the first two batters out, but the Rox rallied for a single and two doubles to tie the game. After a walk to Jack Steil, Ike Mezzenga in his Rox debut laced a two-out, two-run double that allowed the Rox to take a 5-3 lead.

Chase Grillo came in to close things out against the Huskies, and Duluth lost the game by a score of 5-3.

Tyler Cornett picked up his second win of the season, while Dylan Hill got his first loss. Chase Grillo picked up his Northwoods League leading 13th save of the season.

The Huskies play the Eau Claire Express tomorrow at Wade Stadium for a vital double header. Game one is scheduled to start at 12:00PM, with game two scheduled for 6:35.
