Green Bay Rockers News Release
Mequon, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers took down the Lakeshore Chinooks 9-6 in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Kapco Park, winning their second game in a row with this one coming on the road.
The Rockers now improve to 11-7 on the year while the Chinooks drop to 10-8 through the first 18 games of the season in second half play.
The Rockers struck first scoring four runs in the top of the third, with two of the runs coming from a 2RBI single from Luke Ballweg, as the Rockers led 4-0 through the first three innings.
Lakeshore responded with five runs in the next two innings and led 5-4 heading into the sixth at Kapco Park.
Green Bay scored two runs in the sixth courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Tristin Garcia and a bases loaded walk drawn by Justin Simpson, taking a 6-5 lead entering the seventh.
Following a scoreless seventh inning, Garcia capped off his 3-3 day with a three-run home run over the right center field wall in the top of the eighth, giving the Rockers a 9-5 lead after seven and a half innings.
Despite the Chinooks scoring one run late, Jaxon Meyer pitched the ninth inning and retired the side, giving Green Bay their second straight win and winning the first game of the doubleheader.
