St. Cloud Rox News Release
Bismarck, ND - St. Cloud (49-17) couldn't mount another comeback against Bismarck (29-37) in Thursday night's 5-4 loss to split the final road series of the 2021 summer.
History was made on Thursday as Rox infielder Jordan Barth (Augustana) became St. Cloud's all-time hits leader with his 225th hit in three years with the Rox. Barth doubled into the right-field corner and brought in a run to give him the record. Barth is now the Rox' career leader in hits and RBI's during his three summers.
Peter Abinanti (San Diego) bat right in front of Barth and was able to add two hits for the second consecutive day. Abinanti drove in the Rox' first run of the game in the fifth and came around to score in the seventh inning to get St. Cloud within one.
The bullpen shined for the second straight night in Bismarck as Trent Schoeberl (Minnesota) hung zeroes on the board in the sixth and seventh innings. Andrew Morones (San Joaquin Delta) followed with a scoreless eighth, in which he struck out two Bismarck batters.
The Rox have already locked up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and will start off their playoff schedule in Mankato on Sunday afternoon. St. Cloud will open its home playoff schedule on Monday night from Joe Faber Field For the full Northwoods League standings, click here.
St. Cloud returns home for its final series of the regular season against the Minnesota Mudpuppies on Friday night. First pitch from Joe Faber Field is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
