Rox Bounce Back, Walk-Off Honkers

(Rochester, Minn.) - The St. Cloud Rox (5-8) bounced back from their shut out loss on Friday to walk-off the Rochester Honkers 2-1 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud Minn. The Honkers have lost three of their last four and dropped to 7-5 on the year.
The lone Honkers run came in the third as Jaylon McLaughlin (Nevada) reached on a dropped third strike and was driven in on a double by Derek Scott (Abilene Christian). Scott leads the Honkers with seven RBIs.
The Rox rallied in the ninth as Michael Borst (Minot State) singled to bring home the tying run. Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) then singled to bring home the winning run.
Hunter Spencer (Bellarmine) made his second start for the Honkers and is still yet to surrender a run. The lefty tossed seven innings tonight and gave up just four hits and struck out seven. Spencer (1-0) has thrown 12 innings this year and has whiffed 15. Josh Ibarra (Concordia-Irvine) got tagged with his first loss of the season after giving up the two runs in the ninth.
St. Cloud starting pitcher Jack Cushing (Georgetown) allowed just one run on two hits in eight innings. Cushing (1-0) has tossed 14 innings and has surrendered just two runs this season. Finn Del Bonta-Smith (San Jose State) got his second win tonight for the Rox as he threw one inning and struck out two.
The Rochester Honkers are off to Bismarck for a 2-game series with the Larks before returning to Mayo Field Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch with the La Crosse Loggers.
