Green Bay Rockers News Release

Kalamazoo, Mich. - After a heartbreaking defeat last night, the visiting Green Bay Bullfrogs (4-8) were shut-out for the second time this summer in a 3-0 defeat to the Kalamazoo Growlers (8-4) from Homer Stryker Field. The Bullfrogs left five runners in scoring position all with less than one out.

The Bullfrogs venture 30 minutes east tomorrow afternoon for the opener of a two-game series versus the Battle Creek Bombers. First pitch is slated for a 12:05 p.m. CT start from C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek, Mich. Fans can tune in to the live radio broadcast on WOCO Radio (107.1 FM, 1260 AM) or online at WOCO.Caster.FM.

Tate Soderstrom (Freshman, Univ. of Arizona) led the Green Bay offensive efforts with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate, tallying a double and single. Rudy Aguilar (Sophomore, St. Johns), Collin Luty (Junior, Northern Kentucky) and Ethan Ibarra (Junior, St. Cloud State) each compiled the other three hits (all singles) for the Bullfrogs.

Exactly like last night, both teams were held scoreless for the first four and a half innings before a Kalamazoo lead-off solo home run put the Growlers ahead 1-0. Kalamazoo added to its advantage in the sixth on an pop-up infield single with two outs to make it a 2-0 contest. One inning later, Kalamazoo posted its final run of the night on another solo bomb in the seventh to stretch the deficit out to three runs.

Growlers starting pitcher Jeff Burch got the win, improving to 1-0. Tommy Sommer earned his first save of the season. Bullfrogs starter Leo Perez (Freshman, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi) took the loss, falling to 1-1. Perez was dealing on the mound for Green Bay, allowing one earned run on just three hits with a season-high seven strikeouts in his second consecutive quality start.
