
Round Rock Beats El Paso 5-3 Thursday

The Round Rock Express beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 5-3 Thursday and won three of four games in the series. El Paso's eight-game road trip ended with four wins and four losses.
For the third time in the four games, El Paso scored the first run. Rico Noel's infield hit brought home Casey McElroy in the second inning to give the Chihuahuas a 1-0 lead.
Round Rock's four-run rally in the bottom of the third included a three-run home run by Jake Smolinski, who was optioned by the Texas Rangers earlier in the day. The Express went ahead 5-1 in the fourth on an RBI single by Ryan Strausborger.
El Paso made a late comeback attempt for the second consecutive game, scoring once each in the eighth and ninth innings, but left the bases loaded in the ninth for the second straight night.
Rymer Liriano, Mike McCoy and Rocky Gale had two hits apiece for El Paso. Chihuahuas' relievers Leonel Campos and Stephen Kohlscheen both pitched scoreless innings out of the El Paso bullpen.
