Salt Lake Bees News Release
SALT LAKE CITY (May 28) - A Thursday afternoon slugfest at Smith's Ballpark saw Salt Lake and Oklahoma City combine for 36 hits with the Dodgers eventually taking a 14-11 victory over the Bees. The two teams traded leads through the first five innings before Oklahoma City exploded for eight runs in the sixth. With the Dodgers up 11-6, the Bees fought back with a big inning of their own, putting five across the plate in the seventh to pull within a run. An additional run in each of the eighth and ninth innings padded the Oklahoma City lead and secured the win and the series victory for the Dodgers.
C.J. Cron went three-for-five with a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs to head the Salt Lake offense. Daniel Robertson tallied his own three-for-five outing with two RBIs. Seven total Bees put in a multi-hit effort while five drove in two runs apiece. Andrew Heaney (5-1) was knocked for seven earned runs over five and one-third innings pitched and took his first loss of the season. Ian Thomas (1-0) collected the win and David Aardsma earned the save for the Dodgers. Oklahoma City's Corey Seager continued his hot streak going six-for-six with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs.
Salt Lake heads to Memphis Friday for a four-game series against the Redbirds followed by four against Nashville. The Bees return to Smith's Ballpark on June 6 for an eight-game set that will feature Kole Calhoun Bobblehead night on Friday, June 6 and Bee Healthy Week June 11-13.
