Rochester Red Wings News Release

Rochester Red Wings pitcher Taylor Rogers been named the Batavia Downs Gaming and Racetrack Player of the Week for the period of June 8-14.

Rogers made two starts during the week. He and the Wings had a 3-2 lead over Indianapolis June 9 until running into trouble with two outs in the sixth inning, in a game the Wings lost 5-4. But Rogers came up with a clutch outing Sunday, helping the Wings end a six-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over first place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With the Wings reeling from the losing streak and a long bus ride back to Rochester waiting at the end of the game, Rogers was brilliant - scattering six hits over eight innings, striking out eight, and not issuing a walk. With a 6-4 record, a 3.23 ERA, and 60 strikeouts (fifth best in the league), the rookie left-hander is a legitimate candidate for the International League All-Star Game.
