Today's Game

This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Charlotte Knights in the finale of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd will look for the sweep after taking Thursday's doubleheader and winning in comeback fashion last night, 5-4. After the game, the Bisons depart on a seven-game roadtrip to Lehigh Valley and Syracuse.

vs. the Knights

Buffalo can pick up their second straight sweep of the Knights at Coca-Cola Field. The Bisons took all four from Charlotte in WNY, May 1-4 of last year. With a win today, the Herd can also even up the all-time series matchup as the Knights currently hold the 70-69 edge.

Matt Boyd

LHP MATT BOYD makes his Triple-A debut today. The southpaw was the best pitcher in the Eastern League this year, leading the circuit in ERA (1.10), strikeouts (70), average against (.155) and WHIP (0.77). Boyd was 6-1 in 12 starts with New Hampshire, allowing just 39 hits in 73.2 innings of work. Boyd was the Blue Jays' 6th round selection in the June 2013 draft.

Matt Hague

INF MATT HAGUE'S reached base all four times last night, adding to his International League-best batting average (.352) and on-base pct. (.430). Hague still leads the IL in hits (81), doubles (19) and total bases (114) and has nearly caught up in runs (35), trailing Toledo's Daniel Fields by only two. Hague has 25 multi-hit games this year for Buffalo.

Caleb Gindl

OF CALEB GINDL hit a three-run go-ahead home run in the 7th inning last night. Since coming off the disabled list on June 6, the outfielder has hit .435 (10-23) with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI. He has posted a .652 slugging pct. in his last six games.

Bisons Bits

RHP CHAD JENKINS earned his fourth win last night and has now allowed just one run in his last 15.2 innings of work since May 25, with no walks and nine strikeouts (0.57 ERA)...RHP TODD REDMOND earned his first minor league save with two shutout innings last night...INF ANDY BURNS ranks 11th in the IL with his .304 batting average. His 59 hits are 2nd on the Bisons to only Matt Hague.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays' (33-30) 10th straight win came courtesy of Russell Martin's 11th inning home run as Toronto topped Boston, 5-4. Former Bison Ryan Goins had two hits and two RBI in the victory. The Blue Jays go for their third straight sweep of an opponent, today at 1:35 p.m. against the Red Sox.
