Gwinnett Stripers News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indianapolis Indians (41-24) broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the fifth and added another in the sixth for a 4-2 win over the Gwinnett Braves (30-32) Sunday afternoon in the finale of the four-game series at Victory Field.
With the score at 2-2, the Indians took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Gustavo Nunez dribbled a one-out infield single to short, stole second and third base and scored on a wild pitch by right-hander Cody Martin for a 3-2 lead.
The final run of the game came off Gwinnett reliever David Carpenter in the bottom of the sixth as Elias Diaz singled, moved to second on a single by Keon Broxton and to third on a double play ball. Alen Hanson then shot a two-out single to right, scoring Diaz to raise the lead to 4-2.
A costly miscue by G-Braves' second baseman Jose Peraza led to the Indians taking the first lead. In the bottom of the first against Martin, Indians' lead-off batter Hanson hit a sharp ground ball to Peraza who fielded the ball, but made a wild throw to first enabling Hanson to move to second. A bunt by Nunez moved Hanson to third, and an infield single by Jaff Decker scored him for a 1-0 lead. Brent Morel followed with a long double to left-center, scoring Decker from first for a 2-0 lead.
The G-Braves' first tally came in the top of the third as Eric Young, Jr. tripled to right off Indianapolis starter Wilfredo Boscan and scored on a sacrifice fly to center from Joey Terdoslavich.
Gwinnett tied the game in the top of the fifth as Adonis Garcia tripled to left-center and scored as Indians' left fielder Broxton misplayed a line drive hit by Ryan Lavarnway.
Martin (L, 1-2) pitched 5.0 innings with six hits, three runs (two earned), one walk and four strikeouts. Carpenter went 3.0 innings with three hits, one earned run, one walk and one strikeout.
Boscan (W, 4-2) picked up the win for the Indians by working 5.2 innings with five hits, two earned runs, three walks and three strikeouts. A. J. Morris went a third of an inning with one walk. John Holdzkom pitched 1.0 inning with two strikeouts. Blake Wood (S, 18) worked 2.0 innings with one hit and one strikeout.

Gwinnett continues the seven-game road trip on Monday night with the opener of a three-game series at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, KY, first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Sugar Ray Marimon (3-2, 3.60 ERA) will start for the G-Braves, while the Louisville Bats will counter with left-hander David Holmberg (3-4, 4.66 ERA).
