Rockford Stops Win Streak

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers left the tying run on base in the ninth inning, falling to the Rockford RiverHawks 6-5 on Sunday evening to halt a franchise best five-game winning streak. The Boomers left 12 on base in the contest.

Rockford scored a first inning run for the second consecutive game when Javier Herrera recorded an RBI single. The Boomers responded with a run in the second on a Jereme Milons sacrifice fly to tie the game. Frank Pfister's fourth inning RBI double handed Schaumburg its lone lead at 2-1 before the RiverHawks took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Matt Kuna (2-2) suffered the loss despite throwing six innings. Rockford added three runs against the bullpen in the seventh to jump ahead 6-2.

The Boomers scored three runs in the ninth but left the tying run on base. Pinch hitter Nate Baumann logged a two-run single to right to score two runs in the inning but closer Garrett Granitz finished off the win.

The rubber match of the series in on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Cameron Roth (7-4, 3.26) starts for the Boomers opposite RHP Kyle Schepel (3-2, 1.13).
