Slammers Shut out at Home
July 29, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Joliet Slammers News Release
(Joliet, IL)- After a commanding victory in the series opener, the Slammers were shut out 3-0 by Mike Recchia and the Windy City ThunderBolts at Silver Cross Field on Sunday afternoon.
Both Recchia and Steven Maxwell, Joliet's starter, threw shutouts through the first six innings. In the seventh, with runners on the corners, the Bolts finally got a run across on a successful double-steal to take a 1-0 lead. Windy City notched another pair of runs in the eighth off a two-RBI single by C.J. Gillman for the 3-0 final.
For the third time in five days, a Slammers pitcher threw a stellar game but was stuck with the loss due to lack of run support. Steven Maxwell threw seven innings on just two runs, didn't walk a single hitter, and fanned four. Geoff Brown, Daniel Carela, and Chase Doremus finished off Sunday's match on the hill.
The Slammers wrap up their season series with the Bolts Monday night at 7:05, on a Memorable Monday presented by MeTV. Fans can listen to the game on AM 1340 WJOL with Aaron Morse and Greg Talbott calling the action.
