
Rockford Signs Forward From to PTO

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs today announced they have signed forward Mathias From to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement.
From, 20, skated in both the top level of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and the Swedish second league (Allsvenskan) during the 2017-18 season. The 6-1, 187-lbs forward logged five points (2g, 3a) and six penalty minutes in 21 games with Rogle BK in the SHL, and combined for five points (2g, 3a) and 10 PIMs in 23 contests in the Swedish second league between Södertälje SK and AIK during the regular season. From then posted a point-per-game average during the postseason with AIK, tallying two goals, three assists and a +3 rating in five playoff games.
The Frederikshavn, Denmark native has represented Denmark in the World Junior Championships in each of the last two seasons, combining for five points (3g, 2a) in seven games from 2016-17. From potted a game-winning goal in both the 2016 and 2017 tournaments, shared the team lead for points in 2016 and shared third among Denmark skaters in scoring during the 2017 showcase. The forward also helped Rogle BK's U20 team to a bronze medal with four points (2g, 2a) in seven playoff contests in Sweden's top junior league in 2015-16.
Overall, From has combined for 13 points (7g, 6a) in 70 career games in the SHL from 2015-18, and five points (2g, 3a) in 23 career games in the Swedish second league. He was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
