Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- The Quad City Flames made sure goaltender Corey Crawford didn't have a good homecoming.
The netminder gave up two goals to Rockford's West Division rival in the first 14 minutes before being pulled from the game. Neither team could put together another goal as the Flames burned the Hogs 2-0 at the MetroCentre.
It was Crawford's first appearance with the IceHogs since Feb. 17, as he spent the last three weeks with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Grant Stevenson put through his 29th goal of the season at 6:29 in the first to put the Flames up 1-0. Krys Kolanos and Kris Chucko recorded the assists. Stevenson skated the puck out to Crawford's right and slipped it five hole.
Then Carsen Germyn followed it up with an unassisted power play goal at 13:30 to chase Crawford from the game. He took the loss and had just two saves.
Wade Flaherty entered the game in relief. But neither team had their offenses working. Curtis McElhinney finished the game with a 22-save shutout. Flaherty had 16 saves.
Quad City went 1-for-3 on the power play compared to Rockford's 0-for-5 showing.
The Flames extended their winning streak to 4-0-0-0. Rockford lost their second in a row. The Hogs are 2-5-0-0 against the West Division rivals including 1-3-0-0 at the MetroCentre.
Next Home Game: Saturday, March 22 vs. Milwaukee Admirals. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs match-up with the Admirals for the final time at home this season. The first 1,000 fans to the game will pick up a Puckhead Bobblehead courtesy of ComEd and 23 WIFR. Also, following the game fans can bring their skates and skate with the IceHogs. The "Skate With The Hogs" is presented by CoCo Key Water Resort.
