Peoria Rivermen News Release
Mike Glumac and Jean-Guy Trudel each scored twice as the Peoria Rivermen recorded a decisive win over the Iowa Stars by a 6-2 count on Saturday night at Carver Arena.
Following on the heels of a 5-2 win over the Lake Erie Monsters last night, Peoria (35-26-4-4) once again produced three first period goals to grab a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Glumac scored his first of two consecutive tallies at 8:50 from Charles Linglet and Alex Brooks with a one-time rip from the low slot to make it 1-0.
He then posted his second marker at 11:03, pouncing on the rebound of a Trudel shot and depositing it past Matt Climie, who was making his first pro start for the Stars.
Nicholas Drazenovic capped the first period scoring at 15:02 from Julian Talbot and Martin Kariya.
In the second period, Jean-Guy Trudel tapped home his first of two straight after Micki DuPont's original shot hit the post and caromed across the goal line to his waiting stick at 1:51.
Later, Trudel would score his 20th of the season at 17:13 on yet another rebound off Climie for a 5-0 edge after two periods of play.
Nikolay Lemtyugov recorded his 22nd of the year to cap the Rivermen explosion at 12:53 of the final frame, wristing a shot past the blocker of Climie thanks to Yan Stastny's feed while sliding into the corner after the puck.
B.J. Crombeen scored a pair of third period goals for Iowa in the game.
Ben Bishop stopped 24 shots to earn his second straight pro win, while Climie finished with 35 saves on 41 shots in his debut.
The Rivermen now have 78 points on the year and sit just one behind the Houston Aeros for the fifth spot in the division, with Houston playing San Antonio tomorrow afternoon. Milwaukee's loss Saturday night also brought Peoria within three points of the Admirals for the fourth spot in the West Division. The Rivermen will now head to Houston Tuesday night, and play at San Antonio Thursday and Saturday while returning to Houston for a Friday night game.
