Madison, WI. - The Rockers won their third-straight game Friday night, defeating the Madison Mallards 2-1. This would be the final matchup of the four-game road trip where the team went 3-1. The team won their last four games at Warner Park this regular season.
Another pitcher's duel controlled the majority of this game. Both starting pitchers combined to allow just six hits while striking out a total of nine batters.
Starting on the mound for the Rockers was Maddox Long (Harding). The right-handed pitcher earned the win, allowing just two hits and an earned run on the hill. He struck out four total batters on the night, keeping Green Bay within striking distance last in the ball game.
The Rockers would get two quick hits in this ball game. They would come from the two and four spots in Green Bay's order, being shortstop Cooper Kelly (Kansas) and catcher Carlos Hernandez (Anderson).
Scoring in this matchup wouldn't open until the bottom of the third inning when the Mallards put one run on the board.
The Rockers would continue battling and eventually took the lead in the top of the seventh inning. Third baseman Austin Fawley (Kentucky) launched his third home run of the season to left-center field, giving Green Bay a 2-1 lead.
Entering the game in relief for the final three innings would be Henry Chabot (Chapman). He threw three scoreless frames, allowing just one hit while striking out four batters to earn the save.
Green Bay would outhit the Mallards 5-3 at the plate. Hernandez had a multi-hit performance and Fawley would drive in both runs.
