Rock Shoulders Named Cubs Minor League Player of Month

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have announced that Cougars infielder Rock Shoulders has been named the Cubs' organizational Minor League Player of the Month for April.

Shoulders, 21 years old, batted .370 with 19 runs scored, seven doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI in 22 April contests for the Cougars. The left-handed hitter ranked tied for third in the Midwest League in runs scored, home runs, and extra-base hits (12), fourth in batting average and tied for fourth in hits. Shoulders was named Midwest League Player of the Week for April 15-21 after hitting .476 with two home runs and five RBI in six games.

Shoulders was originally selected by the Cubs in the 25th round of the 2011 draft. Double-A Tennessee pitcher Eric Jokisch was named the Cubs' organizational pitcher of the month for April.
