Dragons Announce Roster Changes

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Right-handed pitcher Wes Mugarian has been promoted to the Bakersfield Blaze (Advanced-A, California League).

Right-handed pitcher Joey Housey has been promoted to Dayton from the Cincinnati Reds extended spring training camp in Goodyear, Arizona.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Mugarian appeared in seven games out of the Dayton bullpen this season. He did not record a win or loss and posted an earned run average of 3.72.

Housey was drafted in the 27th round in 2012 by the Reds out of the University of Oregon. He appeared in 58 games out of the Oregon bullpen during his four-year college career, posting a record of 7-2 with a 2.04 ERA. He is tied for third on the Oregon all-time list in career appearances. He earned PAC 12 1st Team Academic All-Conference honors in 2012. Housey is a native of Holllywood, Florida and was the 2008 Broward County Pitcher of the Year.

After being drafted by the Reds last June, he appeared in 11 games with the Arizona League Reds (0-0, 3.09) and appeared briefly at Billings.

Housey's father, Joe, pitched for six seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization from 1980-'85 and his brother John pitched in the Midwest League in 2010 with Clinton and in 2011 with Great Lakes.

The Dragons were rained-out on Friday at Clinton. They play in Geneva, Illinois on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) against the Kane County Cougars in the start to a three-game series. All Dragons games can be heard on WONE Radio 980 AM and on the internet at daytondragons.com and wone.com.
