Peoria Chiefs News Release

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs and Lake County captains were rained out and cancelled on Friday, also cancelling the suspended game from Thursday night with the rainout. The two teams do not meet again in 2013 so the two games will not be made up.

Under the suspended games rule (Rule 4.12 in the MLB rulebook), Thursday's game ends in a 2-2 tie. The Captains scored in the top of the eighth to take a 3-2 lead but the Chiefs did not have a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth as the game was suspended. Therefore the game reverts back to the end of the seventh inning as a 2-2 tie and stats from the top of the eighth do not count. All stats through the first seven innings of Thursday's game count in season stats but the game will not count on either team's record.

The Chiefs welcome the Fort Wayne Tincaps to Peoria for a three-game series starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Saturday is Star Wars Night with character appearances from the 501st Legion and Mandalorian Mercs along with post-game Fireworks presented by Spring Green. The Chiefs are scheduled to start RH Kurt Heyer (1-0, 1.62) against a TBA Fort Wayne hurler. The broadcast can be heard, starting with the pre-game show at 6:15 p.m. on www.peoriachiefs.com/listenlive which also has downloads for a free app on the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android.
