ROME, Ga. - Rome's Robinson Lopez threw a season-high 6.2 innings and allowed just two base hits in a 4-1 triumph over the Charleston RiverDogs in South Atlantic League action at State Mutual Stadium Friday night.

The victory ups Rome to 28-39 in the first half, while Charleston has lost consecutive contests in falling to 31-36.

Lopez, a native of the Dominican Republic, did not allow a runner into scoring position until the seventh inning in defeating the RiverDogs for the second time this season. The right-hander walked three and fanned four in the win.

Rome assumed a 2-0 lead in the second against Charleston's Josh Romanski on a two-run single from Christian Bethancourt.

Kyle Rose tripled to lead off the fifth and then scored on Cory Harrilchak's RBI single through a drawn-in infield for a 3-0 advantage.

Matt Weaver broke a 0-for-20 batting slump for the Braves with a sixth-inning RBI single to grow the margin to 4-0.

Charleston did load the bases with two outs in the seventh against reliever Wilton Estevez, but Kelvin Castro was caught looking on a 2-2 fastball to leave the sacks full.

Castro, however, came through with a two-out RBI single in the ninth inning to cut the deficit to 4-1, but Jeff Lorick got the final out to record his first save of the year.

Romanski (1-2) absorbed his first career road loss in 5.2 innings, permitting four runs on 11 hits with one walk and four punchouts.

Harrilchak went 4-for-4 with a RBI, as Rome has 24 hits through the first two games of the series. No RiverDog recorded a multi-hit effort, and the team has just two runs and six hits in the set.

Game three of this series is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. with Charleston sending right-hander Sean Black (4-5, 4.94 ERA) to the firing line, while Rome counters with southpaw Brett DeVall (2-5, 4.50 ERA).
