Braves Pitching Dominates in Win

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Charleston RiverDogs 4-1 in front of 3,256 fans Friday night at State Mutual Stadium for their second consecutive win. Braves starter Robinson Lopez pitched 6.2 innings, giving up just two hits and zero runs for his third win of the season.

Rome took the early lead in the second inning 2-0 on back-to-back doubles from Robert Hefflinger and Jake Hanson followed by a Christian Bethancourt two-RBI single. The Braves added a run in the fifth when Kyle Rose led off the inning with a triple to left center and later scored on a Cory Harrilchak RBI single. Rome extended their lead to 4-0 in the sixth when Bethancourt singled then scored on another single from Matt Weaver.

Charleston would score in the ninth when Zoile Almonte doubled and would later cross the plate on a Kelvin Castro RBI single but Rome held on for the 4-1 final.

Robinson Lopez (3-3) picks up the win for Rome while Charleston's Josh Romanski (1-2) gets the loss. Jeff Lorick picks up his first save of the year for the Braves.
