The West Virginia Power lost 13-3 to the Hagerstown Suns Friday evening Appalachian Power Park. The Suns tallied 13 runs on 23 hits and sent the Power down to the largest margin of defeat this season.

Hagerstown scored four runs against Power starter Phillip Irwin over three innings. The Suns lead 1-0 after two and put three on the board in the third on four hits, including three triples and a home run by J.P. Ramirez. They tacked on three more runs against the West Virginia bullpen in the fourth to build a 7-0 lead.

With one out in the fourth inning, Gabriel Alvarado hit Destin Hood with a pitch. After the benches and bullpens cleared, both players were ejected from the game.

The Power countered with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to cut the deficit to four. Jarek Cunningham doubled in Evan Chambers for the first West Virginia run of the game and later scored on a base hit by David Rubinstein. In the seventh, Kyle Morgan and Bengie Gonzalez hit back-to-back doubles to bring in the third and final Power run.

The Suns plated five runs in the eighth by sending 11 men to the plate, and added a run in the ninth to cap the scoring at 13-3.

Irwin (1-1) took the loss. While Mitchell Clegg (8-0) gained the win with five innings of one-hit ball. Seven of the nine batters in the Hagerstown lineup had multiple hits, including four each by Jeff Kobernus, Justin Bloxom, and Ramirez. Cunningham's sixth inning double extended the Power second baseman's current hitting streak to 18 straight games dating back to May 31.

The Power and Suns play the third game of this series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Brandon Holden will start for Wets Virginia against Hagerstown's Josh Smoker.
