Clinton LumberKings News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - A strong start by Josh Roberson came with no run support as the Clinton LumberKings were shutout 1-0 by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Friday night at Neuroscience Group Field. The loss prevented the LumberKings (26-14, 59-50) from capturing their first four-game sweep of the Timber Rattlers (21-19, 52-57) in Wisconsin, ever.

For his second straight start, Roberson (1-2) received not a single run of support and was hung with the loss. Over his six innings of work he allowed one unearned run on three hits - all singles - while walking and striking out seven.

Clinton failed to get more than one runner on in the same inning and only once put a runner in scoring position. Marcos Rivera had the only extra base hit of the game with a double to right center field in the third innings but was then followed by three straight strikeouts.

In total, LumberKings batters went down 13 times by way of the strikeout. Max Lazar earned the win for Wisconsin with a six inning piggy back start. Lazar (5-2) allowed just one run and did not walk any while striking out eight.

The loss brings to an end a seven-game road trip for Clinton in which they went 5-2 - both losses coming in shutout fashion.

The LumberKings will head home to open a four-game set and homestand with the Beloit Snappers starting on Saturday night. Clinton will throw righty Remey Reed (2-0, 0.48) while Beloit will tap righty Reid Birlingmair (4-6, 4.67). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CDT). Fans looking to listen to the game can hear Erik Oas with the pregame show on 6:15 p.m. with the pregame show on 100.3 FM WCCI and online at lumberkings.com via the tunein radio app.

The LumberKings will return home on Saturday night with another installment of the "Stay Late Saturday Concert Series." Following the game, head to the Dr. Pepper Picnic Garden for a postgame concert by Todd Striley and the Noize!

The series opener against Beloit will also be Downtown Clinton Night! See participating business in the downtown Clinton for a special offer on tickets.
