GREENVILLE, SC -- Marc-Olivier Vallerand scored twice to lift The Greenville Road Warrios past the Wheeling Nailers 6-2 Friday night at the Bi-Lo Center.

Just as they did last night, the Road Warriors would strike first on the power play, as Justin Bowers received a quick pass, and ripped a shot past Nailers goaltender Mattais Modig on the backside, giving Greenville the 1-0 lead after the first period.

Wheeling used the power play to tie the game at one early in the second. Captain Andrew Lord scooped up the puck off the rebound and fired it past Greenville netminder Dov Grumet-Morris. Less than three minutes later, Marc-Oliver Vallerand stole the puck at center, broke into the zone on the breakaway and slipped a shot past Modig top shelf, scoring the shorthanded goal, and giving Greenville a 2-1 lead. The Road Warriors extended their lead to 4-1 with second period goals from Connor Shields and Blake Parlett.

Wheeling's David Marshall tallied his seventh goal of the season 3:30 into the third period, to pull the Nailers within two. However, Greenville took over the final ten minutes of the third, as Jimmy Kilpatrick scored his first of the season, while Vallerand tallied his second of the game at 17:10, to make the score 6-2 and secure the ninth home win of the season for the Road Warriors.

Wheeling concludes the road trip on Sunday afternoon in Charleston, as the battle the South Carolina Stingrays. Game time is 4:00 p.m. Tune in on The Mix 97.3, or watch the game on RTV.
