North Charleston, SC -Forward David de Kastrozza recorded three points (2g, 1a) as the South Carolina Stingrays (5-7-1-0) defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators (8-3-0-3) 4-3 in front of 2,543 at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night.

Stingrays defenseman Bryan Schmidt broke open the scoring on the power play at 8:25 of the first period firing a wrist shot from the right-wing point past Gladiators goaltender Chris Carrozzi for his first goal of the season. Defenseman Patrick Cullity and center Rob Ricci earned assists. Forward Tommy Goebel quickly made it 2-0 on the power play at 11:01 from defenseman Joe Finley and de Kastrozza. Moments later, de Kastrozza forced a turnover behind the Gladiators net and slipped a wrist shot under an unsuspecting Carrozzi at 17:14

The momentum turned on the Stingrays in the second period as the Gladiators netted three unanswered goals to tie the contest midway through the frame. Forward Michael Forney put the Gladitors on the board on the power play 36 seconds into the period from forward Aaron Bendickson and defenseman Sam Roberts. Gwinnett pulled within one at 3:10 when defenseman Will Colbert fired a shot over the shoulder of Stingrays netminder Todd Ford from the left-wing point. Forney and forward Pat Galivan received assists. The Gladiators tied the contest at the 10:50 mark as forward Ian McKenzie lit the lamp from forward Dan Kissel.

de Kastrozza buried the go-ahead goal and eventual game-winning marker at 15:08 completing a rush with Goebel along the right-wing wall.

The Gladiators were awarded three power plays in the third period including a lengthy 5-on-3 with less than four minutes to play, but Ford and the Stingrays defense stood tall to secure the win.
