Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Cincinnati, OH- Led by a strong second period, the Cincinnati Cyclones defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 5-2 to regain sole possession of first place in the North Division.

On Tuesday it took Kalamazoo until the third period to earn their first goal of the game. Three days later, the K-Wings struck muck quicker.

On a power-play, the K-Wings won the draw in the Cyclones zone back to Jon Landry, who setup A.J. Thelen for a one-timer. Thelen's blue-line blast was deflected by Jordan Fulton (4th), who was camped out in front of the Cyclones net, 3:39 into the contest to give Kalamazoo the early lead.

Cincinnati stormed back in the second period with three unanswered goals. Following a turnover in the neutral zone, Brian O'Hanley (4th) walked in and fired the equalizer past Riley Gill 1:46 into the stanza. Cincinnati followed up O'Hanley's tally by scoring twice later in the period, in a span of 40 seconds, from Matt Pierce (4th) and Adam Bartholomay (1st), which proved to be the eventual game-winner.

Attempting to mount a comeback in the third period, Andrew Fournier (5th) knocked in a power-play rebound to pull the K-Wings back to within a single goal. The goal was Fournier's fourth in his last three games.

Cincinnati put the game out of reach late in the contest with back-to-back goals from Brett Robinson (4th) and an empty-netter from Dylan Hunter.
